This position is located in the Division of Interpretation, Education & Visitor Services at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio. The incumbent of this position is the Field Operations Supervisor who supervises interpretive and education staff performing field-level duties throughout the park. The incumbent will provide guidance and leadership in the decision-making process for programs and services, both on-site and off-site. The incumbent will also be called upon to respond to technical assistance requests in the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area, which extends 10 miles north of the park to Lake Erie and 80 miles south of the park to New Philadelphia/Dover, Ohio. The purpose of this position is two-fold:
To plan, develop, manage, evaluate, and provide support services for field-level general public interpretive services and visitor services for the division including visitor center operations, general public programming, informal interpretation, outdoor recreation activities, and digital interpretation. To manage and supervise the National Park Service (NPS) component of the park's extensive environmental education program, serving as a primary liaison with the non-profit management partner staff at the day-to-day operations of Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center (CVEEC). The CVEEC is a 128-bed, 500-acre residential learning facility operated cooperatively with the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park Area Information:
Located in Northeastern, Ohio Cuyahoga Valley National Park is situated along 22 miles of the Cuyahoga River Valley in a suburban setting between the cities of Akron and Cleveland. The park is predominately natural forest and meadow with some areas of agriculture and excellent outdoor recreation opportunities. Winters are moderately cold with average temperatures in the 20 to 30 degree ranges. Heavy snowfall is not unusual. Summers are moderately warm, average temperatures in the high 70's and 80's with occasional warm spells in the 90's. Rural, suburban, and urban communities are all within a reasonable commuting distance. Excellent K-12 schools, numerous colleges, universities, hospitals, and cultural attractions are available in the area.Website:

Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
an Interpretive Park Ranger, Park Guide or tour leader; environmental educator or teacher; managing a visitor service program, administering a volunteer program, developing and managing partnerships with Federal and state agencies, and private and community organizations; communicating orally and in writing with a variety audiences and public groups using various communications media or other similar work. Your resume must include month/year to month/year and hours per week worked for each work history. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least three years of progressively higher graduate level study, a PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in directly related fields such as natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
